This specific wavelength of red light penetrates to a depth of about 2mm, reaching the skin's deeper layers where collagen and elastin reside. It does not penetrate deep enough to reach or damage delicate eye structures like the retina.
It’s important to understand that different red light therapy (RLT) devices operate at different energy levels. High-energy RLT, like those used in medical settings, can pose a risk to the eyes and often require protective eyewear. RevitalEyes, however, uses low-energy red LED light, similar to what researchers have recently found to be beneficial in studies exploring RLT for dry eye and macular degeneration. That said, we're NOT advising anyone to look directly at the light, regardless of these recent findings.
